It's very unusual that upgrading from stable to Beta makes any difference
to USB turntable problems - i.e. there aren't any issues per se that mean they
will work with PortAudio v19 (in 1.3.x) but not PortAudio v18 (in 1.2.x).
However he should upgrade to 1.2.5 or 1.2.6 if he has not already done so.
