Hi Marlon,
Pressing Home and the Shift+End selects a time range which covers all the
audio in the project - it doesn't depend on which tracks in the project are
selected.
Pressing J and then Shift+K selected a time range which covers all the
audio in the selected tracks.
For deleting audio, the shortcuts delete and ctrl+k are simply alternatives.
When multiple tracks are selected, and there is a selected time range, then
if in some of the selected tracks there is no audio in that time range,
then no audio in that track is selected, and this isn't a problem.

Enter will toggle selection on a track, and, I generally use home,
but, the main thing is if you toggle off selection on all other tracks,
then effects will only be applied to the tracks that have selection toggled
on, but, yes, playback will still play all tracks, to let you hear the
overall output.

on Windows? Something similar to wat Audio Hijack does on Mac OS...
