Hi Marlon,
Pressing Home and the Shift+End selects a time range which covers all the
audio in the project - it doesn't depend on which tracks in the project are
selected.
Pressing J and then Shift+K selected a time range which covers all the
audio in the selected tracks.
For deleting audio, the shortcuts delete and ctrl+k are simply
alternatives.
When multiple tracks are selected, and there is a selected time range, then
if in some of the selected tracks there is no audio in that time range,
then no audio in that track is selected, and this isn't a problem.

Hello,
What is the difference between pressing Home and then shift end rater
than
j and shift plus k? What is the difference between pressing delete and
control plus k?
What happens when multiple tracks selected but the selection is on a
timeframe where just ome track exists?

The setting which has these options can be found by going to the Tracks

Enter will toggle selection on a track, and, I generally use home,
track,
but, the main thing is if you toggle off selection on all other tracks,
then effects will only be applied to the tracks that have selection
toggled
on, but, yes, playback will still play all tracks, to let you hear the
overall output.

Hello Folks,
As I am following along with audacity, some conceptual questions are
raising.
1- How can I make sure that all the sound in a given track ** and only
that ** is selected?
For some other editors, ctrl + a would select all on the focused
track, but I notice that in audacity ctrl + a will select everything
in all tracks *** or not?
I can not even determine that because the space bar seen to play not
only the selection but all the other tracks that happen to exist at
the same time frame.
This is specially important because I might apply effects on a
undesirable way to other coexistant tracks.
2- Is there a safe way of playing only the selection? If I have 4
tracks playing at the same time and I make a selection I want to make
sure that I have selected only and only the part of the right track
before editing.
3- On another completely different area, is there a way either using
audacity or not to combine multiple sound cards into one audio stream
on Windows? Something similar to wat Audio Hijack does on Mac OS...
Thanks,
Marlon
