In Audacity 2.3.0, there is now an option for using a dialog box for the
name of a new label. The setting is in the Track behaviors category of the
Preferences dialog, and the option is off by default.
With this option off, or using previous versions of audacity, when you add
a label at selection (ctrl + B) or add a label at playback position (ctrl +
B), then a custom edit box becomes the focus, and you can enter a name if
you wish. Unfortunately, this custom edit box is not very accessible,
especially for NVDA users, and it would be very difficult to make it more
accessible.
However, if you enable the option to use a dialog box, the when you add a
label, a dialog box opens, and a standard edit box is the initial focus,
and is fully accessible.
Note also, that with this option, when you add a label at selection, after
closing the dialog, the focus returns to the original track, rather than
the label track. Hopefully, this will be more convenient in most cases.
