If I understand you correctly, this applies to multitrack scenarios where the tracks are of different lengths and we want to go the beginning or end of the longest tracks. But if there is only one imported file on a single track, does that mean that the home/end or J/K methods of navigating to track beginnings and ends are equivalent?

Where is this default distance for comma and period set? I haven't found anything in Preferences.
