Hi Jennifer
For my expirience, let's move the cursor to the place you want to set start
selection, then press spacebar to play your audio until you want to set end
selection, then press p to pause, and ] to set end selection. after that,
Ctrl+t to delete all unselect audio.
Tips: if your audio too long, you can press . or shift+ . to fast forward to
the end of your audio.

Hi, everyone.
Please help me understand how to edit a track. I have the track
selected and I've turned "solo" on. I know how to move the cursor
forward and backward and how to pause and restart the track. If, let's
say, I want to remove the beginning and end of the track, where
there's ambient noise, and keep the middle, which has isolated sound,
how do I select the parts of the track I want to delete? What settings
need to be on or off? I know that David has written a user's guide for
Audacity and I give him tremendous credit, because there's a lot I
wouldn't have tried to do without this guide that he took the time and
effort to write, but a more step-by-step explanation would help me and
maybe others a lot. Alternatively, if someone's already explained this
and I can find it in the archives, please let me know.
