I can't imagine using internet explorer to read a book. And if I did, I'd be 
lost anyway, even with page numbers, unless I wrote it down somewhere. I would 
never remember a page number, which is why, for documents 
that don't retain one's place, e.g. a txt file read in k1000, I prefer to put 
an easily repeated and remembered search string which I use for all books of 
that type and can erase when I find my place again in that book 
and start reading. 
Its worth noting that the books from Baen don't have page numbers in them, and 
they come straight from the publisher.
