Hi, Chela. I apologize for any confusion I may have caused you. I used
the name Kurzweil in my tips because what I was writing about works
for both K1000 and K3000.

The resolution setting is part of scanning no matter what software you
use. I love Jackie's explanation of how it works. With books that have
large print, sometimes Kurzweil does best at 200 DPI, something I'd
never use on a book with normal print. For really tiny print, like
what you might find in a pocket-sized Bible, using 600DPI works well
if your scanner supports it. I usually let Kurzweil optimize the
resolution before I scan since I am totally blind and have no idea
what the print looks like. I hope this helps.
