I like Melissa's idea as well as whoever suggested the practice files to prepare people for proofreading. I think samples, examples, mentors, as well as chat and the list are so essential to learning good habits and improving our skills. I also think if we had a workspace that was secure where experienced volunteers could examine books before submission to make suggestions of things to look for would be helpful. It would mean more work for some people, but in the end we would have much higher quality books in the collection.
