A different browser might be effective. Lately I have been having something of an opposite problem. I ordinarily use IE8, but for a while now it has been working very poorly for downloading Bookshare books for reading. I have found that using Firefox does the job better.

I was using Firefox. I have no idea if it was just a coincidence or Firefox has a problem. The site may just have had enough users log off. It also took a long time to check it in. So, I don't have a fix.

Sometimes it's due to slow internet speeds on the part of the uploader's internet connection. And sometimes it's because the Bookshare web site is taking forever and a day to do what it does. I suggest waiting a while and seeing if it's better in a few hours, or maybe even a few minutes. If the problem persists for more than a day, I'd guess that your internet provider is way scary slow, or something else on your end. I had this problem for many reasons in the last few months. I first got annoyed with the sluggishness of the Bookshare web site, which sometimes is justified. But I had to take back my annoyance when my internet provider admitted that there was indeed, and had been for weeks, a sluggishness problem in my area due to something electrical that I don't begin to understand. Just keep trying, and if it doesn't improve within the next day, let us know. Maybe you're not alone and Bookshare can help.
