Tracy, I'm really sorry too! I wish I had more advanced notice, but I don't.

As for Carrie's advice about image descriptions: please DO NOT note this in the 
title, but instead note it in the sysnopsis at the end. Putting it the synopsis 
will still stop it from being overwritten by a publisher quality, and it is a 
more appropriate place to put that info.

Hi Tracy,

It really is frustrating, but here's the stuff I do to try and minimize a book 
I'm proofreading doesn't get replaced while I'm still reading it.

I look up titles I'm going to proofread on Amazon. If the book is out of print, 
and doesn't have a kindle version available either, I figure I've got a good 
chance at having it at least not get replaced while I'm proofreading it.

I've actually moved to asking people who scan to scan titles for me, rather 
than choosing from the checkout list at my first choice. I try to select books 
that are out of print, without a kindle version available, and often from a 
publisher that's long gone to boot. I often also look to find a book like that 
which is from a British or Canadian publisher. That way I can select books that 
I'm interested in that I think are really good books, and that I'm pretty sure 
aren't going to get replaced while they're being scanned or proofread.

So far, I've scanned or proofread a little over 500 books. About 50 of those 
have been replaced, many of them years after I worked on them.  Of the 50 that 
were replaced, most of them were still in print, so I wasn't surprised to see 
them show up in PQ versions eventually.

One of the books I'm pretty shocked to see that I worked on which still hasn't 
been replaced is Charlotte's Web, by E.B. White. It's still in print, and it's 
very popular. But even when a PQ version comes out, that one should stay 
because I followed Carrie K.'s great advice, which Marilyn posted earlier, and 
included detailed picture descriptions in the book.
