Hi Kim,

Also, if this happens again, you might try maximizing the window you're in.
Sometimes it isn't for some reason. There are two ways to maximize
differently First, way is alt plus space and then the letter x. The second
way is by pressing alt plus the dash and then the letter x. Sometimes that
helps me when things aren't reading completely.

Just in case you find a problem again, it's a simple thing to try.

Mayrie

Hi, Mayrie, when I opened the file, I went into the zoom menu and there was
a radiobutton set at 100% as you mentioned. Anyhow, My Braille display is
co-operating so far and I finished the first story. I think (I'm not sure,
but I suspect) this problem I had just happened with a couple of lines on
the page I was working on. I think what I'll do is just proofread the
stories and do the best I can. I probably will have to email someone who
knows how to deal with this style thing. If it will take somebody who can
see to figure out if there's anything squirrely with the file, I'll ask for
help. ameanwhile, I'm reading some great SF.
I don't intend to lose any more sleep over it, though that first story made
me lose sleep because it was interesting and I didn't want to stop working
on it until I'd finished reading it. Regards, Kim.

HI Kim,

The kind of problem you describe often occurs when the zoom is set
inappropriately for the file. It's in the view menu and is entitled "zoom".
Try tabbing around in the zoom menu, and if it is at something other than 75
or 100 per cent, change it to both of those until one of them fixes the
problem.

I'm almost positive the zoom being accurate will solve your problem.

Let us know how it goes.

Mayrie

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Discovering the style of a file

Hi, I'm proofreading a science fiction book and I want to know its style.
I'm having an interesting time proofreading this book so far as my screen
reader isn't always reading right to the end of the line. When I reach the
next line (or so I guess), what I hear doesn't always gibe with what is
apparently at the end (so called) of the previous line. I want to know what
could be the cause of this and how it can be corrected. I tried changing the
custom size of the page, but I'm wondering if this based on something else?
I'm not suffering from the proliferating page break syndrome on this one
(thank God for that!), but I'm stymied about what is going on with the file
and if there is anything that can be done to correct it. The scan so far is
great, but I need help and am not sure what the problem might be here. Would
the style of the book or file detract from ease of proofreading? Regards,
Kim Friedman. P.S.: The book I'm working on is New Legends by Greg Bear.
K.
