Hi Lori! That was an awesome and concise summarization! Thank you! When forming an ellipsis in text, I had been told to use three periods with no spaces between them ... for example. I had also been told sometime ago via this list that if an ellipsis occured in the middle of a sentence, I should put a space on either side of it ... for example. However, recently I was checking on something else in the volunteer manual and found the instruction to not put a space before an ellipsis even when it occurs in the middle of a sentence. My question was then should I put a space after an ellipsis in the middle of a sentence or not? The responses basically said that I should not put spaces between the three dots, and if I did not put a space before the first dot in the middle of a sentence I should not put a space after the last dot. However, the consensus seemed to be that for conversion to braille an ellipsis in the middle of a sentence should have a space before it and after it, but no spaces in between. (but how would that work for a print user reading a book from Bookshare?) People agreed that if the ellipsis occurred at the end of the sentence, there should not be a space before the ellipsis or between the last dot in the ellipsis and the period. A discussion also arose about using an extended ansi character for an ellipsis. People also wanted more guidance in the manual. I think I got everything. Thanks.
