Hi, Carrie, the spelling of q-u-e-a-n is Scottish in origin and means (if I
have this correct) a young girl or female. Come to think of it, Quen may
refer to a woman. So no, I doubt it was misspelled. Mr. Jacques is from the
north of England and since he knows and is familiar with the dialects of
that area, I suspect his spelling was deliberate. Regards, Kim.

I just put Brian Jacques' latest book, The Sable Quean, into the collection.
It's at http://www.bookshare.org/browse/book/165847. Since it's not on the
new books list or searchable (see my previous email), I thought I'd send
everyone the URL.

And one more thing: Before everyone starts screaming at me that the title is
misspelled, no, really really it's The Sable Quean, not Queen. No, I don't
know why Jacques misspelled Queen, he just did.
