Hi Sandi, I can't help with your missing paragraph marks, but I can help with the quotation marks, I think. There are things that Word formats automatically, and that can be turned off. If the quotation marks you're talking about are smart quotes, they can be turned off. However, OpenBook in the past uses those by default. Since your scanning into Word, perhaps turning them off in Word will do the trick. Here are some things that when using Word need to be turned off in the autoformat menu. Sorry I don't know how to tell you how to deal with them in Word 2007, but hopefully you can figure it out. Here's a bit about what needs turning off and how to do it for Bookshare's purposes. You need, by the way, only turn these things off or change them once and they don't come back the next time you open Word. Hope this helps. See below. Please do let us know if you discover why paragraph marks have been stripped from your documents so that we can add the reason and its fix to our wealth of knowledge to help others in future. I know I'd appreciate knowing. Thanks! Mayrie 1. Stop conversion to border lines: Go to Tools Menu (short cut = alt T), Click on "Autocorrect Options" click on tab "AutoFormat As You Type" Uncheck box labeled "Border Lines" asterisks (and equal signs, dashes, etc.) will no longer convert themselves to lines (or borders). 2. Fix smart quotes: Go to Tools Menu, Click on "Autocorrect Options" Click on tab "AutoFormat" uncheck "Straight quotes with smart quotes". Hi Group, I have received excellent feedback from my first two scanned books, and they contained a problem I'd rather not perpetuate. Somewhere in the process, my document was stripped of paragraph breaks. I promise I did not do this with keystrokes or menus. Also, the quotation marks are curly rather than straight. I use Word 2007 and OpenBook 8 at this point for scanning and correction. I scanned in RTF, and the text came out really well. What is happening to cause this problem? If you can help, please either reply to this message or e-mail me off-list at sjryan2@xxxxxxxxxx Thanks much. Sandi
