No book prior to late 60’s/early 70’s has an ISBN, so it cannot be a
requirement. Copyright, on the other hand, is mandatory except in case of
public domain. None of the original Nancy Drew books has an ISBN and we nearly
have all of them in the collection now. Some books, like some of my 1800’s
Susan Coolidge books never had copyrights so they are public domain and
acceptable for Bookshare, too. Many Gutenberg books have no copyright and are
in Bookshare. As we add historical text, many will not have copyright, further
expanding the breadth and width of Bookshare’s library.
