If I had known of the background of the submitter,
and if I had realized her previous contributions, there wouldn't have been
a question.
On more than one occasion, people have mentioned to me that they had
purchased ebooks that they wished to donate to a service such as
BookShare.
I had to explain to these well-meaning folks the realities of intellectual
property law, and that they couldn't upload an ebook that they bought to a
service such as this.
My concern was to make certain that the book fit the BookShare criteria;
and, without an email address, there was no way for me to directly
approach the submitter.
Do you not, as an editor yourself, have to be 100% certain of what you
publish is in the free and clear. We, as validators, owe BookShare that
much.
Now, after 7 hours of msg exchanges, I have learned a lot for which I am
very appreciative. I've also discovered another submitter that I'm adding
to my mental list of those whose contributions I will eagerly download and
validate.
