Jamie, I guess I didn't make myself clear. The book is in the reference section and doesn't circulate. It strikes me as a little strange, especially in a city as large as Los Angeles. It's nice that old books are preserved, but not many people can go down to the central library and read them. In addition to the Swann book, there have been some fiction books that I would dearly have loved to obtain, but the only copy available at any of my three lbrary systems was in reference. In San Diego Public Library system has books in storage, but I get the feeling that one can request them, although I've never tried.
