IT does seem, many of Ingo Swann's books only had a single printing and the
value of them, looking on Amazon and EBay is very high. That could be why
they don't check it out. IF someone didn't return it they probably wouldn't
be able to replace it.

Jamie,
I guess I didn't make myself clear. The book is in the
reference section and doesn't circulate. It strikes me
as a little strange, especially in a city as large as
Los Angeles. It's nice that old books are preserved,
but not many people can go down to the central library
and read them. In addition to the Swann book, there
have been some fiction books that I would dearly have
loved to obtain, but the only copy available at any of
my three lbrary systems was in reference. In San Diego
Public Library system has books in storage, but I get
the feeling that one can request them, although I've
never tried.
