You will get better scanning results if you use the optimize feature under scanning options.

Once you press o for optimize, you will have a set of check boxes you can tab through. Make sure you have all of them checked please so Kurzweil will optimize all settings. Once you press ok it will begin to scan the page. It will repeatedly scan the same page. This takes a few minutes. It chooses the best settings for that particular book.

Once it has finished scanning, it shows you the results and lets you approve them by pressing ok or you can change any of the settings.

If it were me, for now, I would leave them the way kurzweil set them.

Then if you go to settingg in the menu options, there will be a choice of "save settings". You can choose that and save the settings under a name you will remember such as "blue".

You can now scan the book using the optimized settings. You will be amazed at the difference using this feature can make.

When you leave Kurzweil and return to it later, the settings revert to "default". This means when you open Kurzweil you need to go to settings and then to "load settings" under that. There you can choose to load "blue". Just use the arrow keys and you will see "blue" as one of the choices.

Now you have the settings you made when you optimized loaded and you can continue with the book.

I hope I did not leave out anything.

Hope this helps.
