Whomever scanned it used a word processor with Smart Quotes instead of
Straight Quotes. Hence it didn't translate at all well. It was, if
you'll pardon me, horrendous! Looking forward to meeting you on the
4th, Laura.
Yes, we're reading Ice instead. The scan's not bad at all. It's the
same author, same characters, same genre, so no big deal.
