Dear Lora and Fellow Booksharians,

Lora, Thank you for sharing your experience with Bookshare's copy of "Let's Hear it for the Deaf Man." You saved me the time and frustration of wrestling with a poor copy which I'd be reading on my Braille Note. I really like mysteries and am looking forward to participating in the mystery book club. If they consider a different book to start with, you or I could check the accuracy of the braille file for them. It won't be reflect positively on Bookshare's collection if the book chosen for discussion by the group is in sorry shape. Speaking for myself, I'd rather skip this meeting than slog through a novel full of mistakes.

I am always relieved and pleased when I notice Boss replacing messy copies of books in the collection. The last 4 books I've read from Bookshare, Mugglenet, HP and the Deathly Hallows, Murder on Monday and Mao's Last Dancer, have been splendid.

That's not to say there isn't an occasional blip, but, really they are few and very far between and they don't detract my enjoyment of the book.

I'm validating Weeping on Wednesday, the third book in the Lois Meade mystery series, and it's the print book that has boo booze, and dutifully I'm not correcting them. What a strain because I imagine when a Booksharian reads the book they'll think the scanner or validator missed the error. How can they know we're doing our jobs by preserving the mistakes the copy editors missed?

Always with love,

Lissi

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Let's Hear it for the Deaf Man

Hi,

I noticed that the mystery book club was going to start with Let's Hear it
for the Deaf Man. So I grabbed it and started to read. I only read a few
pages, because I was frustrated by the scan. There are random letter o's
all over the place, and words are broken up in strange places. I wanted to
let the organizers know, in case someone has a better scan of it to submit
as a BSO, or in case you want to choose a different book.
