I had a weird thing happen while proofing a book the other day. I came
across the word spelled "U N S H E D". My synthesizer kept saying "unched
tears", as in lunched. I spend a good while thinking about this word and
trying to figure out this mystery word which apparently was correct in spell
check! Unched, unched, unched! What the heck is that! Well, it took some
sighted help and a whack on the side of the head to finally figure out the
word was supposed to be pronounced "un-shed" Of course "un-shed tears makes
perfect sense". But it had me going crazy.
