I think you are correct that they have been deliberately messed up a bit for new volunteers, but I am not sure. BTC stands for batch though.

Hi, I think I've been sitting on my laurels long enough (smile) and am interested in proofreading another fiction project. Favorite genres: romance, fantasy, science fiction, mystery, historical fiction. Would like to do something humorous to lighten things up a little (the last projects concerned scandal and murder.) Will proofread every word of a file regardless of notice I may not have to do so. By the way, I've gone to the checkout list and have seen a lot of books marked with BTC. Shouldn't there be an explanation above the books to check out what those initials stand for and what they mean? I take it they are for new volunteers to look at because the books designated are already in the collection but have been deliberately messed up so new proofreaders can learn how to proofread? Nifty idea which wasn't available to me when I first started. Regards, Kim Friedman.
