Oh, there's a variety of reasons to withdraw a book. If we get a book from a
publisher, we have to withdraw the previous one. If someone submits a BSO, of
course I yank the previous one. If someone files a book quality report, the
previous copy will be withdrawn. Sometimes a college student is so desperate
for a book, that I put a raw scan into the collection (usually rated good), so
the person can have at least something to read for their class. When the
outsourcers are done with the book, I put the proofread copy in and remove the
raw scan. (This is fairly rare, thank goodness.)
A few days I withdrew about a dozen books that Engineering said were corrupt.
No one could open them or read them, I guess.
I do NOT withdraw books because someone disagrees with what the author says, or
is offended by the contents of the book. Those books stay in.
Oh, looks like the bug about new books has been fixed, so there are now new
books in the new books list! Wahoo!

Carrie

Hi, Carrie, any reason for withdrawing books than
testing the bugs that engineering needs to fix? What books would be
needing to be removed from the collection? Thanks, hope all goes well with
this and approvals.
