Hi, thanks for your explanation. It was enlightening and educational and makes lots of sense. Thanks for taking the time to tell us. Have a blessed day. ----- Original Message ----- From: Carrie Karnos To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Saturday, March 06, 2010 11:44 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: No new books Oh, there's a variety of reasons to withdraw a book. If we get a book from a publisher, we have to withdraw the previous one. If someone submits a BSO, of course I yank the previous one. If someone files a book quality report, the previous copy will be withdrawn. Sometimes a college student is so desperate for a book, that I put a raw scan into the collection (usually rated good), so the person can have at least something to read for their class. When the outsourcers are done with the book, I put the proofread copy in and remove the raw scan. (This is fairly rare, thank goodness.) A few days I withdrew about a dozen books that Engineering said were corrupt. No one could open them or read them, I guess. I do NOT withdraw books because someone disagrees with what the author says, or is offended by the contents of the book. Those books stay in. Oh, looks like the bug about new books has been fixed, so there are now new books in the new books list! Wahoo! What books would be needing to be removed from the collection? Thanks, hope all goes well with this and approvals. ----- Original Message ----- From: Carrie Karnos To: Bookshare Vol Group Sent: Friday, March 05, 2010 7:03 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] No new books Hi gang, It looks like there's a new bug in the system such that the new book list is not being updated with new books. About 24 hours, it stopped adding our newly approved books. We've added about 50 books, and they just don't show up. We've withdrawn some books, and they still appear when we search the collection. Very strange! Anyway Engineering has been notified, so hopefully a fix will be coming soon. Thanks for your continued patience with this! Carrie
