Hi Kasondra,

I suggest you check out this website (you may need a sighted friend for it):
http://babynamewizard.com/namevoyager/lnv0105.html
It tells you what baby names were popular when, the decades from 1900-2000, and
if you hold your cursor over a name, it shows the rank of the name for that
decade. For example,
Cassandra in the 1940s was 472th most popular, in the 1950s was 311th, in the
1960s was 207th, in the 1970s was 152th, in the 1980s was 62nd, in the 1990s
was 67th, and in the 2000s it dropped down to 173rd. Most names shoot up in
popularity for 10-20 years, then drop off dramatically. There are very few
that have staying power over the past 100 years, even the names that we think
are the most common. Fun site.

Carrie

Kasondra,

Congratulations! Is this your first? If not, how many children do you
have, and are they boys or girls? Also, are you hoping for a boy or girl?

Gerald

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Carrie, that sounds great if you
can email me the file. It's a great book, and I may read the whole thing,
but not right now. Did you know that one of my hobbies is to read
selections from reference books? Oh, by the way, I can hardly eat anyway
because I am ten weeks pregnant.
