Hi, Carrie.

Even though the pictures won't scan, this book would still be a great resource for us. Many of us have had vision in the past and still have some residual vision, so we would still benefit from the book. It would be interesting to get some general advice on fashion even if the books aren't current; some things never go out of style.

I remember going to a seminar discussing the principles in this book while I was still in high school. I believe I'm a pastel, if I remember correctly.

I'd love to validate these books once they're on step one. All I'd need is some advice about dealing with the pictures since I usually validate books with straight text.

Lisa

Color Me Beautiful by Carole Jackson is a wonderful book. I got it many years ago, and my daughter read and reread it a lot. In fact, I got her a replacement copy a few years ago because her old copy was falling apart. Its premise is that each of us fits mostly into 1 of 4 color categories, which she named after the seasons. My daughter and I are both autumns, because we look good in greens, golds, rust, browns. Springs look best in pastels, summers look good in jewel tones, and winters can wear dramatic colors, like black and white, electric blue, shocking pink, etc. Obviously a few people straddle 2 seasons but most fit into 1.

The book is on amazon.com at http://www.amazon.com/Color-Me-Beautiful-Carole-Jackson/dp/0345345886/sr=1-1/qid=1160058412/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-0293087-5735249?ie=UTF8&s=books

I'm wondering how useful it would be to Bookshare members, since it's so color-based. There are many photos of people and many color swatches, which won't be in the final .rtf file. There is some information on the type of makeup each season can wear, the type of clothes for each season, etc. which might be of some benefit, I guess. Good luck to the person who validates it!

My library has none of them at least under the "color Me Beautiful" title.

I will hunt down titles or if you have them maybe I can search that way.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Scanning Request

Hi. I've got a scanning request for some of you that have access to a library system. I'd like to read some of the books from the Color Me Beautiful series of books that are about style, makeup application, and general fashion. If you do a search for Color Me Beautiful, you will see that it's a series of books with different authors. My local library has 2 books, but they are both listed as lost. And Evan, if you've read this far, quit rolling your eyes at me. (grin) Seriously, I would like to see more information about beauty and fashion topics added to Bookshare. Looking good is something that matters to most women whether we can see or not. I'd like to stop wearing blue jeans because they go with everything. (smile) I'm going to scan the book What Not To Wear and hope that it will come out well. Thanks to anyone who is willing to help.
