hi Nat,

The PQ books are processed from electronic texts, so those texts don't have
page numbers. Electronic books don't have pages in the same way that print
books, and the electronic texts are the files that Bookshare is given by the
publishers. It's not an unexpected problem that you don't have or see page
numbers in your files on the BookSense. But if you navigate by heading or
paragraph instead, you can move around pretty accurately.

I think that the problem of text being missing is unique to the BookSense.
I don't know what the cause is, but try looking at a problem file in some
other application and see whether the text is still missing. I suspect the
text is not missing at all. Try, for example, the xml file which you can
just hit enter on on your computer, and it'll open in your internet browser
of choice.

HOpe all that helps a little.

Mayrie

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Off topic: Regarding the new PQ Harlequins?

Hell list,

I know this is off topic, but this has been on my mind for a couple of weeks
and I finally had to bring it up.

I've been reading a bunch of the Harlequin publisher qualitybooks lately.
However, I'm finding that when I put them on my Booksense, they only contain
one page. I also notice that sometimes, it seems as though there are lines
missing from the bottom of certain pages, because a line of dialogue will
suddenly be read that makes no sense to what I was reading a second ago.

It did occur to me to go to the book's info page and report this as a
quality issue, but this happening with pretty much every single PQ Harlequin
I've read lately. And I've read quite a few. It didn't seem worth it.

I stopped scanning Harlequins because they would eventually be replaced. And
I can't help commenting that so far the PQ books put into the Bookshare
system are...well, disappointing.

Thanks for letting me comment.
Natalie
