Here goes: Books I plan to scan:

The Superior Person's Book of Words by Peter Bowler
Wicked Words: A Treasury of Curses, Insults, Put-Downs, and other Formerly
Unprintable
Terms From Anglo-Saxon Times to the Present by Hugh Rawson
Mrs. Byrne's Dictionary of Unusual, Obscure, and Preposterous Words by Josefa
Heifetz Byrne
Amo, Amas, Amat and More by Eugene Ehrlich
Caesar: Life of a Colossus by Adrian Goldsworthy
The Mansion by William Faulkner
The Stars, My Destination by Alfred Bester
The Demolished Man by Alfred Bester
The Computer Connection by Alfred Bester [this one only if requested]

All of these by the last had been requested by someone or interest had been
show in them. They are not necessarily in order of scanning but if someone is
in a hurry for a book please let me know. Obviously, it will take me a while to
do all of these but I will work as rapidly as care will permit.

Amy, just post a list of titles you plan to scan and those of us on the list
who are paying attention will either tell you if we're scanning one already or
will make sure that we don't duplicate your effort. This seems to work for the
most part. Every once in a while we end up with duplicated scans, but not very
often.

I have a stack of books in my "to be scanned" department none of which are in
the collection and all of which have been previously listed in this volunteer
discussion freelist. Since we don't have a wish list anymore how do I ensure
that they are not already in process of being scanned by someone else? The in
process list does not include books that have not been submitted yet. As I
don't like submitted badly scanned books I "validate" the books as I go along
so that the copy I submit I usually classify as "excellent". Is there a way to
ensure that someone else is not also working on the same books?

  Amy
