Hi Cindy,

I just downloaded Alphabestiary and looked at Ant Song. The text is
all flush left as I thought it would be.

You can't use adjusted margins to fix the white space issues with
identical.

Here is what I believe will work, and the only thing that probably
will to preserve the placing of poetry on the page where the author placed
it.

To indicate blank lines, place an asterisk on the blank line.

For a line that is not flush left, I'd place a dash to fill up each
space on the line that is blank before the beginning of the line. A hard
return at the end of every line will preserve the end of the line. I would
use a dash for this and not an asterisk because an asterisk in braille takes
up two spaces and that would throw off the simetry of the poem. I suggest
dashes because we know they translate properly to both daisy and brf files.

I'm positive that my suggestion will work to preserve the placement of text
on the page.

 Mayrie

Dear Booksharians (thanks, Lissi).

Would someone PUhLEESE download Alphabestiary by Jane Yolen for me and look
at the poem Ant Song and tell me where it is on the page? I didn't know,
then, that line spaces were deleted, so all the verses of all the poems are
no doubt run together, but I need to know if my resetting margins so that
some poems are flush left and others, like Ant Song, are placed in the
middle of the page.

In a while I'll be validating Identical. I've looked at the book, though I
won't be able to get to it until I do a couple of others (Jill, there's no
hurry), and I have several ideas what to do, but one of them involves
changing the margins for parts.
