Gary, I wonder if it matters that my past 3 scanners weren't on
Kurzweil's approved scanners list. They seemed to behave very
differently from the Epson I'm using now. The Visioneer scanner is the
one where I noticed the biggest difference between brightness settings
while the threshold was set to grayscale. According to Nick, that
scanner wasn't supposed to work with Kurzweil at all. Lol. I submitted
somewhere around 20 books in excellent shape with it. Mayrie used a
scanner from that line too and submitted a lot more than me. For me,
that goes into the file labeled "things that don't make sense but
still work."
