Hi, Jess. I usually put the numbers at the top of the page. The formatting I use goes like this Page break Paragraph marker page number line break text. The easiest way to do this, if you're using MS Word, is to wait until just before you submit the book You can use the search and replace function and search for ^m which is the code for a page break and replace it with ^p^m^p I put a paragraph marker before the page break as well, just in case there is any text at the very end.
The stripper is supposed to delete headers like title and author but it doesn't always work so it's best to do it yourself. I do this by first taking out all of the beginning and ending text of the book like the page about the author, praise for other works, copyright notices, and so on. I put those parts in other files labeled "Beginning Book Name" and "End Book Name." So,, I'm left with just the actual text or story of the book. Then, I do a search and replace for the title and author and replace that particular text with nothing. However, sometimes the headers are jumbled, meaning that some of the characters are missing or replaced with junk characters. You might also want to go page by page to make sure all of the headers have been removed.
I got this tip from Donna and it works wonderfully. HTH, Christina----- Original Message ----- From: "Jess Killian" <17razz@xxxxxxxxx>

Hi all, For those of you that do not know, I am validating a book that has two page numbers on some pages and none on some. I recognized that the pages that had two numbers were meant for the pages that had none. For instance, in the attached file, the first page has pages 12 and 13 on it, but no page numbers on the second page. It would be logical for both pages to have numbers. I found out that I can fix this problem. Now that I know that, my next question is: can I place the numbers either at the beginning of the page or at the end? In addition, I saw a posting on this list about running headers. Are they things like the title and author?
