Ok I'll add those then for you.

"To me, music that breaks your heart is the music that stays with you forever. It's one thing to be melancholy and one thing to be sophisticated, but when you get the two of them together in a way people can relate to, then I think you're on to something. You want the sophistication to lie in the purity of the sound, the beauty of the arrangements, and the quality of the performances."-Trumpeter Chris Botti

I haven't heard the term Deranged Perfectionist before. I guess I haven't been volunteering long enough. In fact, I don't consider myself that much of a perfectionist and for that reason was a little leary when I started volunteering. I do thing of proofreading as an arduous task that takes a perfectionist attitude. But, as it turns out, scanners and OCR technology have improved so much that bookshare books really aren't that hard to proof most of the time (especially when one of those Deranged Perfectionist does the cleanup after scanning and OCRing).

Now to comments on the list...

I'd rather see Picture Description than Image Description, because many of us scan first to images and then OCR and I wouldn't want those images confused with pictures.

In addition to page break there should be section break

You could probably have a whole separate section on punctuation, I'd add long dash (alias em dash), short dash (alias hyphen)

Also: notetaker

That's it, at least for now.

    Hi Kim,
Many years ago, the volunteers identified themselves as "deranged
perfectionists" which I thought was apropos.

Hi, the term of opprobrium I picked up is "jiffy proofreader"
    meaning a
person who checks out a book, glances over it (figuratively) and
    turns it
in. I am not a jiffy proofreader because when I decide to do a
    project, I
read the whole book from word first to word last. I am the picky
    soul who
asks submitters about the book pagination, copying snippets of
    text into
emails to assure myself concerning what the submitter knows is in
    the book
when I'm in need of knowledge. I'm wondering what jargon word will
    suit the
perfectionists in the group. Regards, Kim Friedman.

    Bookshare Volunteers,

This week it occurred to us just how differently we sometimes use
    words here
    at Bookshare.

We certainly have our own set of abbreviations and acronyms. What
    other
online community can hold such erudite discussions of ellipses,
    scanner
settings, or British punctuation for so long? Where else can you
    cause such
turmoil if you confuse "submit" with "check-in"?

As we brainstormed what sort of orientation and training material
    to create
for new volunteers we found that we had generated a word list that
    could be
the start of a glossary. Read through the list below. If you think
    of other
words, acronyms, or concepts that we might be helpful for new
    volunteers
gather them up and email them to me or - if you want to hold the
    discussion
online - post them to the list for others to add to.

    Enjoy the long weekend.
