Paula,

I'm not staff, but -- what you've stated below is all
that is required. A spell-check won't eliminate some
kinds of errors, like "be" for "he" and "corn" for
"com" in words like complete, or the number one for
capital I -- but, as one person noted here, if a
person downloads a book to read and finds a lot of
errors like that that make reading the book difficult,
he/she can through the book and make the changes and
submit the book as a replacement or make mention of it
here and someone else who has the time might do that.
I'm fortunate to be able to read, but I can imagine
that if I were listening to a book it would distract
from the meaning and/or enjoyment of the book if I
kept hearing corning instead of coming and be instead
of he. I don't know how Braille reading is affected.

As you said, the original guidelines and instructions
just said, if I remember correctly, to check the
copyright info, etc., and the pagination, to be sure
no pages are missing (you'd be surprised how
frequently that can occur in the scanning, whether the
scanner is blind or sighted. But, as you've noted,
people are now wanting more perfect books. What's the
old saying -- give them an inch and they'll want a
mile? Something lke that. Anyway, I would suggest,
given the other demands on your time (fortunately, I'm
past the stage of family and job obligations -- been
there, done that) that, if you can, you scan and and
do the minimum required before submission, i.e. what
you've mentioned below plus checking to see that all
the pages are there. Give the book a Good or Fair
rating and let someone with more time validate.
