It is the same everywhere. In Boston it took convincing and here in PA it does too, smile. It isn't just the rural or the city, is everywhere. Keep it going Valerie, remember each and every one of the kids you get involved is another kid who has the chance to discover for themselves the joy of reading, and sometimes that joy is enough to work for.

Believe it or not, I cannot get these rural Mississippi parents to read with
their kids, let alone use a computer with them.  I have only converted a
half a dozen teachers to BookShare and its FREE!  They all think it is too
much work. Sigh. I am working on people, but it is an excruciatingly slow
process here...

If you can get the kids signed up with Bookshare, smile.  I have found
that
once the parents see how valuable the service is, they will go at it.
Smile, that and providing cheat sheets on how to do things helps quite a
lot.
