Dear Lissi,

It's a German/Scandinavian mark and can be made by alt plus 0254. I don't know
if it can be made that way on your machine but that's what it says here:
http://www.starr.net/is/type/altnum.htm--pr can you copy and paste this: þ

Ah--having been able to copy and paste it into google I've learned more about
it thanks to Wikipedia. Anyone not interested can stop reading right now and
delete.

It's a letter called Thorn or þorn in Anglo-Saxon and Icelandic alphabets. It
was also used in medieval Scandinavia but was replaced with "th." It can be
pronounced like the "th" in "thick" or "the."

The Wikipedia article also says it can be made on qwerty keyboard if you have
Windows by by typing Alt+0222 (Þ) and Alt+0254 (þ) on the keypad (if you are
using Windows). I don't think I can make it on my Mac keyboard. Years ago I
made a chart of symbols by trying every combination of keys, but the thorn
isn't on it.

HTH

Cindy
