Hi Amber,

I certainly don't want to propose ruining library books. However, I will say that I have never broken a spine myself, and press down hard enough that I only get stray characters from the shadow of the cleft in the book, and that only in a book over 450 pages. Do you have a book of your own to work with to see just how much harder you need to press on the book? Just a thought. I really do press as hard as I need to and have never broken a spine. And the library has never chased me down to replace a book. I hope you can solve your problem.

Peace,

Mayrie

Hi all:
I get all of my books from the library. I have a question. I don't have this problem with paperbacks, but with hardbacks, it's a real problem. I always think I'm pushing down hard enough on the spines, but I always get cut off words, or sentences, and I think it's because of the binding issue, and it's just on hard-backs. Because of the spines, and them being library books, I don't want to break the spines. Is there any other suggestions you can give so I can get better non-cut off scans?
Frustrated,
Amber
