Since the software is better today, a submitter has no excuse on doing a better job. One thing I noticed at least in kurzweil anyway, fine reader puts die instead of the. I scanned the same page using scan soft and it does better.

For skype contact bobwichitaks
For msn contact info rt5117@xxxxxxx no emails.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] books with die ought to die

I know many of the words in my other message would have been caught by rank spelling. Many ocurrances of die for the would not.

Die man stood waiting. He looked down die track. Die train was not in sight. He read die schedule dien waited beaneadi die sign hoping die clock told die wrong time and die train was not really late.

In a western it might be possible to search for "die gun" "die "wagon" "die man" "die woman" "die horse" "die cows" and so on but there are too many nouns to get diem all widdiout searching for all of diem. Widdiout a lot of effort die scan is going to end up in poor shape and ought to be kept out of the collection.

Until validators feel confident enough to reject books, there ought to be some kind of minimum expected of submitters at least by staff. Validators, please help put a floor on what is reasonable as a submit by rejecting things which take ridiculous amounts of time to fix up. If it is truly that valuable and you feel passionate about the book, re-scan it or ask somebody else to re-scan it.

A validator's mind is a terrible thing to abuse.

(grin)
widdi best wishes,
E.
