Hi Shannon,

Our Publisher Liaison Robin Seaman is working on a response to the
author, and we will let the list know when it has been sent.

I can understand your surprise at being on the receiving end of her
displeasure - and just hope it didn't put a dent into your enthusiasm!

All good things,

Pavi

Thanks, Pavi. I appreciate it.

I was just so surprised to see this in my in-box. I'm guessing she
entered her name into the bookshare search box, and found my submission
of her book, and so, decided to send me a little note.

        Hi,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention - in the future it
would be great if you could send a copy of mails of this nature (and
hopefully there won't be too many more!) directly to my address:
pavim@xxxxxxxxxxxxx where it has a better chance of swift response (I do
read the lists but at a slower pace).

I will plan on responding to the author on behalf of Bookshare -
her contact information is on her webpage.

        Thanks!

        All good things,

        Pavi

        Hi, all.

I received this message from Katharine Webber, the author of
Triangle, which I recently submitted to the collection. She is
apparently displeased that her book is in the collection.

I tried to explain that bookshare is not illegal. Here is what
she says:

Scanning pages of a book that is copyright and
therefore protected intellectual property, and then
ndistributing those pages to other people through a
website, is a violation of the copyright law. Very
specifically, you are stealing income from me, the
author of TRIANGLE and other novels.

What you are doing is theft. Do you mind that? Would
you steal a meal in a restaurant, would you steal
services from your plumber? If you had no idea it was
illegal, now you know. Surely you do know this?
BOOKSHARE IS ILLEGAL THEFT OF PROPERTY. Do you want to
keep doing it and to wait to be prosecuted?

Who can heal, but one who has healed herself?
Who can know, but one who has asked and sought?
Who can lead, but one who has traveled the way?
