I posted before about my attempt to scan Désirée. It is copyright 1953 and
is a fat hard covered historical fiction book. It is a great book, but it
doesn't scan well because the text is way to far in to the binding, so a few
letters are often lost. I am going to give up and let my library put it
back in storage if I don't receive a validation offer from an ambitious
sighted volunteer in the next day or two. I have only scanned the first 25
pages or so, and don't want to continue scanning if the book has to be
rejected anyway. I'm pretty good at reconstruction, but my brain would
surely explode if I tried it for as long as it would take to finish this
book, and I might be unable to determin what is missing in some places.
