Hi, Monica, I don't know if you are familiar with the SAMobile Network, but
if you could get there, there is a petition somebody drafted to make the
Kindle reader accessible and also addresses the author's guild. I don't know
how many signatures are on this one, but I signed it. I think there are
authors who are totally wrongheaded about this issue. What they don't
realize is that allowing their works to be accessible may provide them with
a larger audience of readers who, when familiar with their work, may buy
their books for their friends and neighbors or for themselves to scan for
organizations like Bookshare or for their own reading pleasure. I hear what
you're saying and I do think that putting stumbling blocks in the way of
those who need accessible books is wrong and downright inconvenient.
Regards, Kim.

Jackie, I got my mail out of order today and didn't see your post about the
Barnes and Nobel reader. I wondered what sparked all of the talk about the
Kindle since it seemed to start from nowhere.

Your post does change things for me. I had decided to keep using Amazon
despite the Kindle issue since they tend to give me a slight edge in pricing
on print books. I wrongly assumed that all e-books would be equally
inaccessible, no matter which store I used. However, if B&N is going to make
things accessible for us, it's worth paying for and getting behind.
