If the pictures are placed at the end of the book then numbering them should not throw the rest of the book out of sequence. Maybe what you can do(if it isn't too much trouble and you want to do it) is number the picturesand just write captions where appropriate. The way the NLS program handlesit is to put the descriptions of pictures at the front or the back of thebook before or after the text. This isn't always so. I have a web Braillecookbook called The Yellow Farmhouse Cookbook by Christopher Kimball, andit's quite disconcerting for me to be reading a recipe or something and comeacross a line that says "text continued on page (name page number)". Thereason for the text interruption was because there were charts or tableswith pictures with them. I don't know whether this could be put down to badbook design or what. I wish that when the charts or tables were firstmentioned, they would appear right after that so the recipes I was readingwouldn't be broken up. Gripe, gripe, gripe! It really depends on whether thepictures convey information the text does not. If they're just pictures withsimple captions, then put them where the text won't be interrupted. I'vealso just thought that at the end of each chapter you could write "picturesin this chapter" but that might be too much work. Just do what seems right.Regards, Kim. P.S.: This is not really anything except my opinion on this.I've heard the saying that a picture is worth a thousand words, but since Ican't see them, they don't really convey that much to me unless the captionsare described and then I think "That's interesting" (but only in a mild sortof way).
