That one about why we like certain songs as opposed to others looks interesting. Hopefully I'll have a vacancy by then so I'll be able to grab it. I'm majoring in music so it looks like an interesting read.

Hi, fellow booksharians. For those of us who are fans of the rock group Rush, i've just purchased drummer Neil peart's latest book, Roadshow: Landscape with drums, that he wrote while on their 30th anniversary tour. This is an account of him behind his drumkit, and on his motorcycle.

next, I have something for those of us who might be curious about why our brains react to music as they do, why we like and don't like certain songs, etc, from a scientific point of view. It's called This is your brain on music, the science of a human obsession. it's by Daniel J. levitin, who was a professional musician, record producer and record industry executive in the 80's and 90's, and is now a neuro-scientist and university professor studying the effects of music on the human brain. Both of these should be good greads for those who might be interested in this sort of stuff. I just got them, and will have them hopefully scanned and submitted for validation early this next week, weather permitting. Take care all.
