Hi,

I recommend treating the Roman numerals the same as regular page numbers. One can separate them with a blank line above and below if you like, but rewriting them in any way isn't needed.

Glad you liked my validating tips. <smile>.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] question about Roman numerals

I'm just starting to validate a new book and I'm working on the preface,
which has Roman numerals. So in light of the recent discussion about
page numbers, can someone tell me how the stripper and how your text
readers (I'm a sighted volunteer) deal with roman numerals. Do I need to
make sure that they are all lower case, e.g. xii or all upper case, e.g.
XII?

And will the stripper realize that they are numbers and leave them alone
if they are at the top of the page?

Thanks, and thank you Allison for your neat to-do list.

Devorah
