If there are only two occurrences, I'd definitely use Jamie's technique. If there are many occurrences, such as in a math or chemistry textbook, I fix them to have the correct superscripts/subscripts.
There is a degree symbol, so you shouldn't use a superscript o or 0 for that. Nemeth (math) braille also has a degree symbol, but I don't know if the bookshare converter knows to make the correct substitution.
