I have remained as silent as I possibly can since my voice is just coming back
after three weeks of pneumonia, but the whole argument is making me very, very
angry. If laws need to be repealed, this is not the place to argue it. It is
one thing to call attention to the fact that someone may want to work with you
on the issue given a specific opportunity, but we really should not have this
battle here.

As to the adult designation, since it is a stipulation of the grant, then
Bookshare needs to decide if they really want to grant or not. It should not be
in our hands as volunteers to decide whether they comply with the grant or not.
Frankly, I am so there irritated about the whole thing that I'm half ready to
report the lack of compliance to the Department of Education, even at the fear
that they will then reject or rescind the grant for noncompliance.

I'm sorry you don't like the agreement that they reached with Bookshare, Roger,
but if you don't like it, this is not the place to change it. If you do not
like the rules by which Bookshare must follow to comply with the grant, then
put your efforts elsewhere. These educational grants were big-time money for
Bookshare and have allowed for the enormous expansion of the collection. With
that opportunity and financial assistance came responsibility and restrictions.
Again, this list is not the place to debate whether we like them or not, but
with the people who signed for the terms of the grant.

Valerie
