Wrote--he died in 1991.

He wrote historical fiction, set in all places and
times. I looked his books up in my library catalog and
found out that he published between the late '40s into
the early '70s. I also realized that I haven't
actually read any of his books--just saw some movies
made from some of them. I seem to remember the movie
was a pirate swashbucklet; I did some research and
*finally* found I was right--here's a brief summary:
"The swashbuckling story of a daring pirate who
scourged the Caribbean for loot and love." (the movie
was released in 1953, so my memory is pretty good,
although I didn't remember that Sterling Hayden played
The Hawk--I thought it was one of the other actors who
swashbuckled a lot). I also remember that The Foxes of
Harrow was made into a movie.

Oh-- I just checked and I see we have six books by
Yerby in the collection including one that combines
The Golden Hawk and A Woman Called Fancy that is rated
Excellent. I guess that's why the book was rejected.
Ah, well. The Foxes of Harrow is in the collection,
too. I guess I'll have to get some from the library to
read--will add them to my list.
