Elizabeth, I think there are a few people here that are in the same boat as me. The k1000 upgrade offer is a very generous one. It's out of my range for now. When I hear someone talk about the upgrade option, I privately feel sort of sad because it sounds about as attainable as visiting the moon. Then I feel embarassed by my living situation and don't really talk about the feelings behind it. After paying for my daughter's school tuition, I live on approximately $160 a month. Most of that goes to cover my daughter's clothes, school lunches, and field trips. I stopped updating JAWS a long time ago due to cost. I am saving literally $15 a month toward upgrading my OCR program. So it's not a matter of just not wanting to pay for the upgrade. It's going to be at least 3 years more before I can pay for the upgrade. That's why I'd really like to see an Openbook update. I do my best to be content with what God has given me. Sometimes I feel a little envious of what K1000 users can do with their scans. I also feel frustrated with the lack of interest in improvements to Openbook. Sometimes I feel stuck, like I'm spinning my wheels and going nowhere. I think these are all normal feelings, and I use those feelings to help me to keep saving money because I know it will be worth it in the end. (smile)

Who would start listening? Freedom Scientific. If memory serves, they bought OB rather than creating it. I may be incorrect but have they ever upgraded it since they purchased it. You do know about the k1000 trade in right?
