Dear Dan,
Thankyou for providing this opportunity to reflect upon the meaning and
consequence of intention in FC work. Intention, in my experience is "to
do".Wherever I have an intention I desire to act according to my conscience,
which is my mind. The whole fabric of the mind is woven intently by guilt and
innocence. It is interesting to observe the origin of the meaning of the word
intention. It comes from "intendere".
Etymology of the Latin word intendere
the Latin word intendere (hold out; stretch, strain)
using the Latin prefix in- (suffix for no)
derived from the Proto-Indo-European root *ne (not)
derived from the Latin word tendere (to stretch; pitch tent, encamp; pull
tight; stretch, spread, extend)
Observing what is as it is, is the meditative art of non attachment. It means
not stretching, spreading or extending the original moment, the truth. Not
adding anything to it. To hold intention is to participate in all of this. Not
to hold intention simply means to be. To be is not to do anything. This is not
to say movement does not happen, but rather it is action via inaction, via what
Hellinger or the Tao refers to as "intentionless centering." To intend to do
derives its ability to act from knowledge, past, memory; that is, the conscience
of guilt and innocence. In this way intention pollutes an otherwise pure
present with past/ego/mind. This is how I see it.
My meditative experience also recognises that pure intense intention is
actually intense blind love. When it is experienced and accepted fully as it
is, without judgement it becomes very deep pain that becomes an intense
existential longing for love.......it hurts deeply, as one confronts
separation with acceptance and awareness. The pain reminds us of our being
that is separated from itself. It is a longing that is unaddressed, has no
meaning or goal, just longing....lost......?waiting for God. This longing
passes over the dark night of the soul. Since being involved in FC. I also
recognise that this longing is the longing of the child who did not get love
from the mother. Existentially this leads to earth mother, unity, oneness.
Engaging in intention can be a way of avoiding letting go of knowledge, belief
and ideas of love and belonging (conscience). It is a very costly exercise,
and as Sheila so aptly reminds us, we give and take only what it has cost us to
live, no more, no less. To give and take a sense of belonging prevents movement
beyond belief and belonging. Who in this ends up carrying more, the client or
the facilitator?
This is my take on intention.
Love Sadhana

Dear Johannes -
Your response provokes a lot interesting thoughts. Of the many gifts
from my trainers was encouragement to find my own way of using
Constellations. Here in Boston, there are 4 facilitators who trained in
the Bert Hellinger USA training in 2001. Since, no others have launched
successful practices. Three-quarters of my work is by telephone/Skype
for individuals around the US and in other countries. This is partly
why Constellation Talk is so important for me as I find my own way to
serve and heal.
You write, "I see too much healing intention" and "I am very careful
with the intention to heal." I understand that your perspective comes
from Germany where there are thousands of therapists and healers using
Constellations.
Recognizing that I cannot properly orient myself in the context of your
"too much," I do carry a very strong intention - what I call
"determination" to provide profound and lasting benefits to my clients.
If I have no intention to change the client's issue, what am I being
paid for?
